Q. Is hypnosis possible for everyone?

A. Most individuals can be hypnotised if they understand the necessary steps required to reach this state.

Q. Can hypnosis force me to act against my will?

A. No. Clinical hypnosis differs from stage hypnosis, and individuals may choose whether to accept any suggestions offered.

Q. Will I remain aware of events or conversations taking place during the hypnosis state?

A. Yes. You may experience a state of deep relaxation, but you will remain aware of the hypnotherapist’s voice throughout the session.

Q. What occurs if I do not emerge from a trance, or if the hypnotherapist is unable to bring me out for any reason?

A. You would naturally emerge from the trance state once rapport with the hypnotherapist is no longer maintained. There are no documented cases of anyone remaining in a trance indefinitely.

Q. How will I feel afterwards?

A. You should continue to experience a sense of relaxation; however, your actions and responses will remain highly efficient, allowing you to function as normal.

Q. Am I unconscious during hypnosis?

A. No, you are between sleeping and waking.

Q. What does hypnotherapy feel like?

A. Hypnotherapy is a deeply relaxed, daydream-like state, similar to the moments just before you fall asleep.

Q. I’ve heard that hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy. What does this mean?

A. If someone is dealing with, for example, a habit they wish to change, they might already be working with a doctor or counsellor. Hypnotherapy can be used alongside these more traditional treatments to provide a little extra support.

Q. How many sessions will I need?

A. Every client is unique. After the initial consultation, most clients will require between one and four sessions depending on the presenting issue.

Q. I am a nervous flyer. After completing a course of hypnotherapy will my fear return in the future?

A. Once you've had successful hypnotherapy and worked through your fears, they tend to stay at bay. Sometimes new circumstances arise, but the tools and the confidence that you have built up usually help keep that fear from returning.
